- What is HoopPicks?
- HoopPicks is a daily NBA trivia game. Each day you get one question — for example, "Pick 5 players whose career All-Star selections add up to 50" — and your job is to choose five players whose combined number gets as close as possible to the target. The smaller your delta, the better your score.
- How does the Daily Question work?
- A new question drops every day at 06:00 UTC. You get one attempt per UTC date. Once you submit your five players the result is locked and your score appears on the leaderboard. You can play tomorrow's question once it goes live.
- How is scoring calculated?
- We sum the relevant stat across the five players you picked and compare it to the day's target. The closer to the target, the higher your score. Going over by 1 hurts the same as going under by 1 — it's the absolute distance that matters.
- For points-per-game questions specifically, the target is stored with one decimal of precision (e.g., a target of "27.0 PPG combined" is computed as 270 internally). The display layer in the App reformats it back to the human-readable PPG number — your score won't be off by a factor of 10 just because the math runs on integers under the hood.
- What is Endless mode?
- Endless mode is a separate game where new questions appear back-to-back so you can keep playing past the daily question. You start with a small pool of hearts; getting close to the target preserves a heart, getting too far costs one. When you run out of hearts the run ends.
- How do hearts work? Can I get them back?
- Yes — hearts recover automatically over time. There is also a watch-an-ad option to recover one heart immediately. We do not sell hearts for real money.
- How do I enable or disable notifications?
- In the App, go to Settings → Notifications and toggle "Daily question reminder" or "Streak reminder". You can also turn notifications off entirely for HoopPicks in the iOS Settings app under Notifications → HoopPicks.
- I can't sign in. What now?
- HoopPicks uses Sign in with Apple as the primary login. Make sure you're signed into your Apple ID on the device and that you tap the same Apple ID you used the first time. If Apple shows you the "Use a different Apple ID" sheet, picking a different one will create a new HoopPicks account, not log you back into the old one.
- If Sign in with Apple is unavailable on your device, the email magic-link option is the fallback. Enter your email, tap the link in the email we send, and you're in.
- How do I delete my account?
- In the App: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This removes your authentication record and everything tied to your user ID — picks, scores, streaks. The action cannot be undone.
- Alternatively, email "delete my account" to support.hooppicks@simple-tech.app from the email associated with your account.
- Where do the player stats come from?
- Career stats — points-per-game, total points, MVPs, championships,
All-Star selections, and so on — come from the NBA's public stats
endpoint at
stats.nba.com. We refresh the underlying dataset periodically (rookies and post-season updates) and re-seed the App's database accordingly. - Are the stats up to date?
- We seed the database before each release. If you spot a player or a number that looks wrong (a 2024-25 rookie missing, or a career average that's a season behind), email us and we'll get it queued for the next refresh.
- Is HoopPicks affiliated with the NBA?
- No. HoopPicks is an independent project. It is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with the NBA, any team, or any player. We reference players by name only, the way an almanac would.
- Is HoopPicks gambling?
- No. There is no real-money play, no wagering, and no cash payout. It's a free-to-play skill and trivia game. See our Terms for the full statement.
- I found a bug or something looks off.
- Please email support.hooppicks@simple-tech.app with the day, the question, and the players you picked. A screenshot is gold. We respond within a few days.
